I have been instructed to install a client program on many PC's which is part of a large scale rollout.
In my affiliate I seem to be having some difficulty with certain laptops. The installation fails and after some searching it appears to be failing because Program Files folder seems to be marked as read-only.
Now every time I uncheck that read-only and apply to all sub-folders and files then I go back to make sure the read only is off it is still marked as read only with the tick in the little box.
It is as though a group policy is changing it back all the time but I have also deleted all group policies by finding the hidden file in system32. So what else could it be that is keeping it as read only? Local policy? If so I cannot find one that stands out as the culprit.
I am the administrator of the PC and have checked ownership and everything under permissions but nothing is working. Anyone have any clue?
It is win2000 SP4 btw.
