Are there any good free programs that do this?

I usually copy the hidden music folder from my ipod to my machine - then import it back into iTunes. That will rename all the files back to the correct names. Works like a dream!!!

IPOD touch doesn't allow to access the ipod as "removable disk" to do the above.. that's why i went to Tune Jack. recreates the files structure as it is on the ipod. no need to rename, copies the album art as well

That's a pity - I use my ipod more as a flash drive than a music player.

If you have winamp there is a plugin that will copy all or just selected songs off your ipod (works on iTouch too). I think its called ml_ipod or something. Just google it. :D

Also, if you are running linux you can use Amarok, it will do the same.

Any new version of winamp.

Click on portable devices....
Right click on specific song you want to copy from ipod to PC
Click on "Copy to local media"
You will find the song in "My Documents/My Music"

:p

heyi just downloaded a programme to do just that off a disc i got with a pc magazine and it did not work. i am having problems with this new ipod. i managed to get 30 odd songs on it but itune does not pick up the ipod so i used winamp and still have problems. this thing is a nightmare.

Personally I recommend copypod for MS, gtkpod for Ubuntu
