Hi,

Is there a program I can run to check a pc's stats, eg. ram, cpu, motherboard, hd etc.?

Thanks

no, there isnt.

most of us just use the old technique of throwing the bones, and trying to read the results.

or try tea leaves

or, if you think I am joking, go download everest home edition, trial version available.

If you're simply after the basic stats then on a Windows 2000 or XP machine, simply select start -> run and type in the following:
Code:
winmsd
If you're after something a bit more detailed but free, CPU-Z is quite useful.

There is a program I constantly as a pc technician - aida32.
its a free download and it will tell you everything from the speed your ram is running at to what versions of direct x files you are running. It lets you know the manufacturer of all your devices and even includes a weblink to download the drivers for that device.
there is no other program like it - just google aida32 - you will not be sorry.

No-one has even mentioned Speedfan, nice little prog that gives you access to all the temp sensors on your motherboard and fan speeds etc
