Southern Suburbs, Cape Town, South Africa Third Quarter Business Resources
This role operates at a Programme Management level that aligns to the strategic goals of this financial services institution and plays an Integrator role for services to internal Programmes within their South African Transformation (SAT) Programme. *The role has a strong focus on Governance to improve Quality by reducing systematic and project specific risks.
Role Description & Key Result Areas:
Key Result Areas:
*Business Specific Objectives

  • Aligns project management standards for OMEM in line with the Group Change Policy
  • Ensures all key projects delivered in compliance with Group standards.
  • Ensures all projects are adequately resourced.
  • Leading, managing and directing an accumulation of projects and programmes in order to achieve longer term strategic outcomes.

Integration

  • Operates as an extension, and in support of the Head of SAT PMO.
  • Provides direction to the Project Managers accountable for delivery.
  • Steers Positive change in PM Methods and Tools via the SAT PM Capability Forum.
  • Oversees Integrated Planning across the Core Programmes.
  • Owns Continual Improvement in the PMO’s Maturity Level.
  • Takes overall tactical accountability for integration across the portfolio.

  • Assists with report backs and provides performance feedback.

  • Accountable for project manager’s time, tasks, costs and output quality.
  • Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
  • Creates a climate for optimal performance.
  • Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.

  • Manages performance across the portfolio.
  • Plans and assigns work over the applicable period.

Methodology, Process and Tools

  • The person, reporting to the Head: SAT PMO, will:

  1. Implement and Maintain Governance Standards and Processes within the SA Transformation PMO.
  2. Be required to embed and enhance existing Methods and Tools.
  3. Champion the broadening proposition of PPO as a Project Management tool within the SA Transformation PMO and Project Management Capability.

Role Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/recognition of prior learning.
  • 10+yrs. of Strategic Programme Management working experience.
  • Hands-on experience of running a large PMO.
  • Working knowledge of Portfolio Management in Financial Services.
  • Experience in executing large scale Strategic Change Programmes.
  • Solid Planning experience within large Programmes.
  • Experience using PPO advantageous.
  • Expert Level Presentation Creation and Presentation Skills.
