Programmers breaking their own code to make political statements

In March 2022, the author of node-ipc, a software library with over a million weekly downloads, deliberately broke their code. If the code discovers it is running within Russia or Belarus, it attempts to replace the contents of every file on the user’s computer with a heart emoji.

A software library is a collection of code other programmers can use for their purposes. The library node-ipc is used by Vue.js, a framework that powers millions of websites for businesses such as Google, Facebook, and Netflix.

Elon Musk made a comment about this kind of issue, when asked if he would block RT from broadcasting across Starlink networks, he made it very clear that his service would be absolutely neutral, that was also at the height of the RU/Ukraine conflict's online fervor, it was pretty bipartisan too (don't see that every day on the internet, lol), so it was a moerse hot issue. Have to respect that.

Though he did provide the service to Ukraine for military action, lol, but hey, Russia can broadcast RT on Starlink, so everyone's a winner, they not allowed to complain! LOL.

I can see though how some people wouldn't want their hard work benefiting persons and groups on grounds of racism, human trafficking, terrorism etc.

No Linux, firewalls, switches, cloud, IoT,, etc, for you then.

Even the software used for this forum itself. Y'all stupids. Stay away so that us open source intellectuals are left to our own devices.
thats fine i will just use Windows RRAS for my routing , and the built in windows firewall.

Backup option will be to use windows internet connection sharing :notworthy:

Yes comrade. You are safe.

That is about the only time you will get cut off. Get involved in terrorism. Get involved with communism. Do EWC and real soon you may not have access to any of these services. Naturally. But pansies not feeling happy and cutting everyone off? No.

Microsoft edge. Comes with my paid Windows 11 OS. I will not have this issue with Microsoft products.
Don't be so sure about that...

Well, like I said above, if your government involve itself with illegal things like warfare or EWC and get sanctioned, then naturally you will get cut off.
