Progress

In 1970 I would put a Paper Tape in a 10 character per second Teletype reader and go home for supper. After supper, with a bit of luck, the program had loaded.

In 2002 I dialled up to the Internet, started a download and went to sleep.
In the morning, maybe, my download was complete.

Today, I started a download and I am going away for the weekend.
ETA is 1d 10h 9min.

When I was a child, I would switch on the radio and wait for the Valves to warm up.
Today, I switch on my PC and wait for it to boot up.

I didn't have a tv growing up, used to listen to the cricket on the radio.
Today I follow the cricket on cricinfo, 2 meters away from my turned off tv.

Hmm yes its progress in some way but the prices make it impossible. I mean I read on the virgin media home page. [virgin media in the UK] they offer there costumers a 20MB line for about R430. Now that is what I call progress!! And its unlimited downloads. Hmmm I can only imagine imagine imagine imagine imagine. Ohh sorry got carried away by the 20mb line.
