Hi
A very small group of colleagues and I are trying to improve on academics by presenting topics on a weekly basis before work on a Monday morning.
We work in an under resourced governmental facility, we have a room that we are busy furnishing with what we can spare from home to use for this, and want to get a budget projector from our own pocket to just project PowerPoint slides so everyone is able to follow along with the discussions.
We were hoping to spend in total R1000, but could be stretched to R2000 max if i can justify the cost
I've scoured the internet, and see a ton of projectors for R300-R1000 but am just concerned that they might not be bright enough to display things during the day.

Does anyone have any recommendations / has anyone bought one of these projectors and willing to give some insight or recommendations?

Projector doesnt need to be bright, you just need to make the room dark.

Thick black curtains will do.

fair play, but humor me with some suggestions of projectors rather than cloth please <3

No projector that is under R2K is going to be bright enough in a bright room. So you're either spending extra money on curtains/blinds or a better projector.

I tend to prefer Epson projectors as they are the best. But would be rare to find one around at your price tag

Try an older Dell or BenQ projector. Sure it may have hot pixels, but at R2000, your chances are low. Also its got to do with resolution. Ideally you want to be full hd, but at your budget a 1280x1024 should be ok.

Try get one with hdmi

The Epson is about 2100 lumens. It should be decent enough. The LED is pretty bright, not on the level of Epson though but small and compact. For carry around its easier, but Epson is still top.

I suggest maybe some decent Logitech speakers or so to, for the sound or so. That way it becomes more interactive. If you really go all the way, look up logitech meetup, but thats more interactive lessons. You dont need these huge systems for video conferencing. Honestly they cost a fortune and is crap. Our office spend 1.5 million a room, only to discover pre covid they couldnt connect to ms teams, but only chat to one another. what a waste.

Also dont run your projector at full as their bulbs are pricey, run it at eco mode so 2000 lumens or so and not 3000 lumens. bulbs last longer.

With LED it doesnt use bulbs as much.

Newer projector are laser ones, so no more bulbs, but theyre generally 4k projectors and costly.

If you can paint a wall for projection, or so, try a very light grey, almost white. White is good for dark rooms, but meeting rooms are better in light grey.

"As we have seen, white screens offer bright, vibrant images, and are typically suited for darker rooms and top projectors with a high contrast. On the other hand, grey screens are excellent for enhancing contrast, which works best with rooms with unsatisfactory light control and cheaper projectors with less contrast."
