Hi Everyone,

Please help with advising which projector i should opt for. I'm looking for a device with high resolution output and decent life span.

In my search for projectors, i stumbled across this unit (InFocus IN118HDxC 1080p DLP 3D Projector), but never heard of this brand, and spec wise it fits my requirements. Primary use will be to project presentations, not movies.

Is it any good?

or help with recommending other units.

Much appreciate the help.

Thanks.

InFocus has been around for ages and makes very good equipment. Best would be to look for a review of the specific model.

Got myself one, very happy with its performance and brightness. Takealot had it on special for R6000 when I bought it a month or so ago though, so its quite a price jump.

Just also first check what a replacement lamp for it will cost you and if they are readily available. It won't be a very good buy if a replacement lamp for it costs R5000 and almost no places stock them. I don't know too much about projectors, but from what I know, that 10000 hour claimed lamp life seams too good to be true.

Anyone of you guys use a projector as primary display for entertainment?

I'm in between forking out 40K for the 65" Samsung or save a k@k load of money and buy a decent projector?

A decent project will cost as much.
Optoma HD28 is 25k+
Epson TW7200 is 30k+
A 100" grandview motorised screen is 10k ex vat

Based on contrast ratio, that's my opinion of decent anyway.

The TV will set me back R40k something

So that's in my budget, let me go Google that Epson a bit, thanks.

Also look at NEC, they make very decent projectors and have a 5 year warranty as far as I remember.
