Property description - "hen & chicken"

I have got into the habit of looking through the property section of the sunday papers to see what else I could have in a different area.
I live in the stupidly over priced "atlantic seaboard" area.

I keep looking south - kenilworth to constantia.

Now, fairly often, in the property description "hen & chicken" comes up.
What the hell does this actually mean - besides a garden ?

Isn't it always chicken & hen estate.. Not the other way around. Anyway parents I guess live in that stretch.

It's sad though, most of the huge properties here are being subdivided into smaller ones with zero gardens.

Hen and chicken refers to the profile of these two animals formed by the section of table mountain overlooking this precinct which is described as an "upmarket gated estate" - It's name is hen and chicken estate in upper claremont and was probably named by some estate agency or developer who had to dream up such crap to sell the things.
Once you leave the Seaboard you will find it difficult to adjust to other views. I moved from Camps briefly to Hout bay and nearly tore all my hair out because the Karbonkleberg blocks the Atlantic view and you never see cold fronts or the sun. Moved back to the Board proper and all was good again. Now I am dreading moving to the Bush. I think I made a huuuuuuuuuuggggeeee mistake but c'est la vie. Mozambique beaches are only a 3 hour jaunt away.

But since you started on property descriptions lets continue with the marketing Hogwash, Estate agencies use to brand themselves.
The Agency names change as fast as numbers hitting the roulette wheel but the faces there remain the same.
