Proposed strategy for increased speeds

Based on my opinion that users are moved in and out of the sucky-speed group, I have formulated a new strategy. Could some people experiencing good speed please post their subnet info.

For example, my IP addresses used today are 66.18.80.83 and 66.18.80.80(which I set statically).

The only way the can manage users or the most likely way is by IP grouping. So my strategy to be attempted is to get a "good" IP and try get a static IP on that subnet and compare performance for the two different IP addresses.

It is a bit of a gamble since they could be using any range of ways to group the addresses not necessarily by subnet. But its worth a try. I have noticed before that speed does change for the same IP address so when this happens you merely reconnect with a new IP address. This could be the reason that you are getting the same IP address when reconnecting. This is probably their means to offset the pool management proposed above.

So please post your thoughts and experiences on this. Also you IP address (or range if you dont wanna give up the address)

for example.. 66.18.80.0 / 255.255.255.0 which means all addresses from 66.18.80.0 to 66.18.80.255

If the above proves to be the situation regarding speed, this can be used as "proof" or "evidence" that Sentech is screwing customers on purpose. This seems highly likely due to the fact that 2 separate people on the same tower are getting highly differing levels of service.

196.35.170.0

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Thats the transparent proxy 168.210.90.231. Unless you have a different address?

use http://checkip.dyndns.org to check

All IP adress sites give me the 168.210.xx.xxx but not 168.210.90.231

http://checkip.dyndns.org/ says

196.34.xxx.xxx

Slow speeds since Wed 16 June on 66.18.85.xx. Hmmm .. I doubt they keep it, but any way to get one's previous IPs from dyndns.org, I wonder? (I mean, I have a dyndns name. Doesn't look like it though).

I am on 66.18.86.### with slow speeds. I agree that this is probably the only way to change a users speeds and share the band width among all, so one day you have good speeds, and the next bad.

I have loggged on and logged off a few times, however, I still get the same IP address.

How do you change it statically?

Slow is an understatement - 22 kbps to day - that is a whopping 2.86 KB/s

PPP adapter sentech:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 66.18.86.xxx
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 66.18.86.xxx

I am ready to cancel...just waiting for Telkom though to tell me if the exchange is OK

just type in the IP address instead of asking for an automatic IP. This would be in your "Network Connections" if using XP for the "sentech" account. make the DNS addresses 66.18.68.1 and 66.18.65.1

Greedyflyza, I forgot about that. Anyway, I have been trying the whole day to see if speeds would improve by using different TCPRwin and Mtu values.

So far I have managed to achieve absolutely nothing. A big fat 0

My Ip address has also changed once, and it makes no difference.

I believe that the company to start targeting is IPwireless, as they have a lot more to loose and are in control of the technology. If you check a few of the sites around the globe such as Woosh and Netvigator, they are also having the same problem. Here is a comment/problem from one user at Netvigator (UK) http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,10360297~mode=flat ... not getting download speeds. Maybe mywireless and the others have been sold a big problem by Ipwireless.

But still as a user, this does not help. To top it all, when I send an email to mywireless's support, I get a response, " 3) Could you please provide your contact details and user name?" that's after I sent them email from my sentechsa acount and my name is at the bottom of the email.

Please, if any of you support guys are reading this, I said "I did not want a reply unless you sorted out the problem." Now normally I charge about R 900/hour for my time, so today it has cost me/you about R7,200. I can assure you that I will get this back in pleasure when I close this account.

But then again, who the hell do I go to.

So, it means being screwed again until another worthwhile service provider happens to come on the scene.

But let me just clear one thing, I will close this account, unless you do something and soon.

I have an explanation...Astrologically, Mars rose on Venus's southern front and started a "slow phase" (BTW Dr Potgieter celebrates her birthday on the 29th of April). This "slowness" will continue for another 24 months for star signs Leo, Capricorn, Orc-clitaruis, Libra and Picsces.

That explains why only some users on the same tower crawls and others fly (Air signs). The only solution for the damned signs is to meditate often, not to call 0860-SENTECH, wear no underwear and take salt baths once a week.

Haven't posted much lately. Also been slow, especially at night. On the 196.34 address range.

Anyone know if it is possible to move between the IP ranges ie. from 196.*.*.* to 66.*.*.* and vice versa?

Was away for 24 hours, and have now reconnected and
its on 196.34.xxx.xxx again
and speed is fine
