I got my order for 2 Duets key finders. It sounds good on paper but there are a few scenarios i did not think of when i investigated it. 1. You link both tags [house and car keys] to your phone. You can press a button on either tag and it makes your phone ring. You can also make both tags beep from your phone. Sounds great? You leave your desk at work to go to a meeting. As soon as you are out of range from your car keys , on your desk, your phone rings to warn you.
2. You get out of your car, with your house keys in, as soon as you are out of range your phone rings.
3. You walk to the bedroom with your house and car keys in the lounge, as soon as you are out of range your phone rings. 4. You're in a restaurant and go to the bathroom, as soon as you are out of range of your car keys , your phone rings. Etc etc, you can see why this becomes very annoying.

It makes beautiful sense on paper but out here, in real life, i just cant cope with it .

Revised Protag Duet review.

I contacted Protag about the annoyance, above, with the phone alarming every time you move out of Bluetooth range. They showed me how to switch it off which is a great relief.

I had a closer look at the features and here are some thoughts:

You can track your device from the webpage, but my Android has a Samsung Find Mobile and Device Manager functionality where you can do this anyway.
You can track your Duets, which are on my house and car keys, and is pretty accurate, impressive.
You can take an image capture with your camera from the website but, I have you to get this to work, I emailed with screenshots them and is waiting for a response.
It has a radar feature for when you lose your keys. The phone should vibrate faster the closer you get to the article/ key you are looking for. It is very slow to respond though and spends a lot of time searching for your key, without actually buzzing.
It has a feature called Firi where you register your tags online and I think it works like this: If your tag gets lost any other phone with Protag's registered, and Bluetooth on, will pick up your Protag info and the finder can log your details, for you to find it. I cant find info on their web page to really see how this works though. Problem it the person finding it must know it is a Protag attached to your belonging and know they have a find and lost website you can report it.

Knowing what I know now would I spend 700 bucks on it with delivery? Answer is no. That's not saying potential buyers wouldn't love it though.

I'm pretty sure the app will cause constant wake locks on a phone (needs to poll the device every now and then) - battery life...

Do you know what its affect is on your phone's battery life?

That's what woreiwd me as well as the Bluetooth must stay on. Strangely enough there has been no impact on my battery at all and im watching it kike a hawk.
