What we need to do is hold a visible protest. And i dont mean a protest of a whole ten people standing in quiet neighbourhood outside a tiny telkom branch, but rather a huge frikkin march with ALL unhappy telkom customers, marching down Bree Street. Something visible, something noticeable, something that will make the 6 o' clock news and newspaper headlines. We really need to start creating a stir, because it seems to me like ICASA can't do anything to help us. We've tried the ICASA route, we've tried other routes. But I strongly believe that considering things have only gone from bad to worse since the ICASA hearing, it is time to start playing a little dirty. I don't mean full scale riots, but enough of a noise for people to hear our crys.

In all honesty, I used to have only one reason for immigrating. that was crime. but now i have second reason, telkom. and i am not over exagerating. Because i am in IT and specifically in the web development industry, and because i am a big user of open source software, it seems to me that the only way i can survive it move to a county with cheaper services. i cant afford to stay in this country with prices like those. how the hell am i supposed to get my life started with telkom holding me down. We need to fight, not for just better telecommunications services, but for a better country on a whole

Lets all meet at the Union buildings this Wednesday 24/10/05 at noon, who is in ?

Make sure you guys go through the right channels to arrange the protest. You might get locked up if you dont.

I was thinking of that, who here will not take a rubber bullet for a bit of p2p, the more illigal the protest the more headline news it will make.

Drastic times mean drastic measures must be taken.

Says the dude with a name like swazi.....hmmm :P

Anyways Anybody know what the requirements is to setup a legal protest?
I was thinking one in Jo'burg pret with rpm and the guys up there an one held by mad down here in good ol cpt.

We really need to start doing big protests otherwise we'll have a great internet awareness but unfortunately in south africa cause of telkum most ppl won't even know bout us. Get ourselves organised. Everytime telkom makes an announcement over price hikes or less vaseline usage we protest.

Anybody up for a 31st October protest in cpt an jo'burg? say an 12:00 to 13:00? walk from telkom offices say to the local goverment buildings or something?

Think I'm going to stick with selling my internal organs to pay for the costs. 1 Kidney down 1 to go

Yeah I agree with Karnaugh, why don't you say that Jacob Zuma will be there, then maybe COSATU will pitch up. Then you could have like a few thousand people.
