Proxy Server through Windows 2003 Web Server

Hi,

A friend rents a server, as he says 'virtual server' in the UK. The server runs Windows 2003 Server and I can login from my Mac using Remote Desktop Connection.

I would like to setup a proxy server on the machine so that I can connect to the net as if I'm in the UK.
How can I setup a proxy (free or open source) on the server, so that it can function as a proxy.

For example : I the client sets up a proxy server in my chrome /firefox options
This then connects to the proxy in the UK, and routes my traffic through there.

Proxy+ is something I have used with reasonable success for this type of setup.
I presume you want privacy protection / ability to view video streams not available to SA ?
 
Y not rent a virtual linux box then run squid as a proxy.
Is probably cheaper for the linux as there are no licenses and you can tunnel through using SSH.
I am guessing you are wanting this for gaming or BBC or something...
If you want all ports opened for programs or devices that don't have proxy options, using putty and SSH tunneling would prob be best here.
 
Can install freeproxy,then set up either a socks or regular http proxy ( with authentication or you make an open proxy server ) and go nuts
 
Also worth trying LanSuite if you can find it - I think they made a free version before the company went down. Works well with 2003 and has some very nice features.
 
Just keep in mind as well, your browsing won't be any faster and skype video calls will not like the high pings...

My 2c, as you didn't say why you would want to do this. :)
 
Want this for access to international sites that block south African's. ie. Have to login to my spotify account once every two weeks to keep it active. BBC stuff etc.
 
What would be the point of SSH tunneling if i can just pop proxy settings into my browser?
