My problem is this... I play on a local game server called reason at war3.raven.za.net It is a warcraft PvPGN (battle.net clone) server. It uses port 6112. My problem is i can join to games but cant create... well i can create but people cant join.
I was running on a netgear adsl modem (firewalled router) and then switched to a straight adsl modem (also netgear) with out the firewall still with no effect. I dont have any firewalls on my computer (XP SP1) and it cant create even on a fresh install of win98. Now i have a perm adsl (through a special VPN that storm set up, linux box etc with there own router) and still cant host.
Infact i havent heard of nebody who can host in my area thats on ADSL (location Hillcrest/Kloof 30km outside Durban) but yet people in PMB can host fine... It seems to only effect certain areas.
I have spoken to saix and they said they give that port no priority thats why i cant host but then lots of people all over SA can host and others cant. My question to the techioes out there....
Is there a different SAIX proxy i can use that would allow this port instaed of the default one that gets set up. I neotraced the connection and found that between me and war3.raven.za.net there is 10 nodes which go to Capetown then though to the joburg area. Isnt there one straight from Durbs to joburg or is that ISP independant?
(another note to help: People with telkom routers + telkom isp have the same problem.. some can host and others cant with the exact same equiptment just in different areas)
My conclusion: When you log to the net SAIX has different proxies it uses for the different areas... All i want is to be able to host a game.. any idea on any other proxies i can use?
Thanks
