I recently realized that my number was subscribed to a R10/day service for videos/games/porn/whatever by a company called Moxigames. Somewhere in my search for this, i came across what I think to be their holding company, MT-Digital, which in turn, have a 3rd party call center, of whom are never available.

It was said that I had subscribed to this service on 18/09/2017, and that ran for 18 days. Long story short, the sharks agreed to refund me the R180 stolen out of my phone account. I lodged a complaint with WASP, regardless.

One thing that stood out on the email from Moxigames, was that I must opt in for PRS Barring. To quote that section of the email:

To prevent your mobile number accidentally or unintentionally subscribed to any 3rd party service. We would like to suggest you to contact with your mobile service provider Vodacom ( request them PRS Barring) to block all 3rd party service for you. In future your mobile won't subscribed to any 3rd party service.

Is that a thing on Vodacon? Or is it a pipe dream? Are they just allowing their cronies to register these syndicates on the back of their network so that they can get rich without most people realizing that their airtime is going missing?

Update: Vodacom have no idea of any PRS Barring services. The ****s will allow WASPS to stick their paws into your account ant take your money.

**** all WASPS in the ****ing ass. ****s mother****ing ****s.

Oh, thats another thing. This is what STOP or STOP ALL to 31050 returns to me.

SNIP

I AM OBVIOUSLY ON VODACOM YOU CRETINS!

I tried now and I got the same message in return! Seems that line is faulty or we are secretly on another network :wtf:

I believe that is no longer the number to SMS. There is another one, I just can't find it now.

So it was 30333, and then it was 31050, and now its something else again? Is Vodacon intentionally changing the number to stop people from unsubscribing?

That I can't tell you, we can only speculate. The fact they they are allowed on the network tells me they're in it for the money.

30333 still works for me, so does 31050.

Customer care should be able to do it for you. I deal with corporate accounts and with them there is a form that needs to be completed to have WASPS completely blocked. Unfortunately the shops and people like me do not have access to activate the block on the system. Only Vodacom can do it on their side.

If it were up to me, all numbers would have these WASPS blocked by default and only opened if specifically requested by the user.

I just called 111, and really wish my call recorder worked (switched my BT headphones on mid call.)

Anyways, they told me in no uncertain terms that blocking all WASPS is not an option.

Update:

I have set up an IFTTT rule to send out an SMS to 31050 and 30333 every day at 08h00 that says "STOP" and "STOP ALL". So 4x SMSes daily, just to make sure I never get subscribed to these thieves again. Luckily the SMSes are free, for now I suppose.

I am still getting the message that says: "Sorry, this service is only available for Vodacom subscribers", and I really don't give half a ****. These scumbags have taken my money for far too long, and I will have proof that I did my best to force their hands out of my account. Useless cretins.
