hi guys am looking out to buy a PS 3 and wil lgladly appreciate it if you can help me, i need to know who will be reasonable with the price and also a bit of advice on the hard drive size will also be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

you might as well get the 40GB, you can upgrade it so no point in paying more for the 80GB only to upgrade it later.

hi Nduimiso please forgive my ignorance as im still a newbie but if i buy the 40gb how do i get it upgraded to maybe the 80gb and what will the cost implication/difference be

thanks

Just space the "new" 80gb is just a 40 with a bigger drive. Apparently Kalahari.net have a very good deal on 40's at the mmoent, under R4k.

thanks doobiwan will check it out... how about makro and incredible connection and those kinda guys? any good deals there

As the guys said, get yourself the cheapest model (even if 40Gb) and just buy a new
2.5" SATA drive (ones used in laptops). The drive can even be 5300rpm, no need for
7200rpm as its been proven not to give that much of a performance boost and only
adds to heat

you can upgrade it with any 2.5" Harddrive, any size will do, there are guides and videos on the web on how to do it.

Im not too sure but isnt the 80gig the only one to come with the dualshock3 controller. And the 40gig the old sixaxis one.

I got a 40gb last week. The 40 comes with 2 sixaxis controller.
the 80 comes with 1 x dual shock 3 controller and (normally) 2 games.

For me I didnt like the games that came with the 80. I've also got a few large drives lying around at home so the price diff (> R1000) made no sense for me to get the 80. I can buy a DS3 controller at another stage.

If it comes with the DS3 then it may very well be worth it considering they're R800 on their own. But what's the price difference? Isn't it about R4k for a 40 and about R5300 for an 80?

Simple. Go to any decent electronics stockist and ask them for a Microsoft brand PS3. They go by the model number - "Xbox360".

/runs back to 360/PS3 flame thread :D

omg, so typical.

rexter, have a look here http://www.ps3za.co.za/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15
maybe you can pick up one second hand, but if its not like R500-R1k cheaper or got few
months left on warranty then just grab the new one.

ps3 on special at makro

i seen today makro has a special on the ps3 80gb with 1 normal control and 1 ds control and a game at R5399 seems to be a decent price while game has it a R4999 but only with 1 ds control

Sounds good, and having that extra controller is nice when someone wanan join you.
I want to get two more normal sixaxis controllers so that 4 of us can play LBP :D
without having to go online.
