OK, so I bought a PS+ membership from BT Games (R365 compared to the normal price of R489 via the PSN). So far, I have queued a bunch of games to download (30GB+), and will play them as I get the chance. Who else is using the service? What is the difference between a "Full Game" and a "PSN Game"? Do I get to keep any of these games after my membership runs out?

It seemed like a good deal at the time. Is it?

If you membership runs out you cant play the games anymore.

It's an amazing deal.

A full game is a game like you could get at the shop. A PSN game is usually smaller, shorter, but a lot cheaper. Similar to an Xbox live game.

Do you have to be logged in to play the games or are they available offline (without internet connection)? For example - a household has two PS3's, each with their own PSN account. One PSN account is also a PS+ member. Would that member be able to install the same games on both consoles (multiple download) and if so, would the non-PS+ account be able to access those games? Does this make sense?

I've been on PS+ for a few months now.

(I might repeat what have been said)

The free games you download you can keep and play until your membership expires. If you renew your membership you can continue playing the games.

As mentioned PSN games are only available through PSN.

Your games are attached to your PS+ account.Don't know if Sony would be so charitable as to allow you to use your account and install your games on a different console.

AFAIK, it is dependant on the game in question, but for most, you only need to be logged in for the initial purchase.
To play on multiple consoles, you will need to have the account that has that PSN+ subscription on both machines, so that the console can download, authorise first time etc, but not necessarily logged in to play - this is also game dependant, most games I've seen allow it to run on up to 5 consoles.
A few games allow on machine to run the game and/or you have to be logged in to play, such as Final Fight (Crapcom those bastards)

Any PSN+ discounted games that you buy, as in, you spent more that R0.00 to get them, will be yours to keep even if you cancel your PSN+ subscription. Any games that you get for free will be de activated if you cancel your PSN+ subscription (they all get reactivated if you activate your subscription again later on)

Also take note that some free games are removed from the free collection to make room for new free games, therefore, you should complete your "purchase" of those games while they are free, even if you are not downloading them right away.

Example of what mouse is saying:

PlayStation Plus Content
Entering the Plus Service in February:
6th February: Sleeping Dogs (have a read of Spectre's Sleeping Dogs Review to get even more excited!)
6th February: Quantum Conundrum
6th February: F1 Race Stars
13th February: WipEout 2048 (PS Vita)
20th February: Lumines Electronic Symphony (PS Vita)

Leaving the Plus Service in February:
6th February: BioShock 2
6th February: Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
6th February: Cubixx HD
13th February: Jet Set Radio (PS Vita)
20th February: Pinball Arcade (PS Vita)

Once a game has left the service, you cannot get it but if you did add it your basket and did the zero cost checkout to add it to your library, its available to download in the future.

Some games might get removed from your library in the future even if you downloaded them - its in the PSN Plus disclaimer.

EDIT: I would recommend that you also add the PS Vita to your library just in case you get one in the future.

There is continuous confusion about this as even Sony is undecided on where they stand. The general feedback is the PS+ is linked to the device and account and you need to de-register your account to play on a 2nd device.

You can however link a Vita to your account as well as console.

PS+ is the best thing since sliced bread! Its insane the amount of games you get for R400... My sub now only expires in May 2014 :p

I have two PS3 consoles but only one PS+. All downloaded games are on both consoles. It's linked to the name not the console.

PSN+ accounts are linked to the PSN username in question, not a particular console.
It is common practice in some overseas countries to pool money together and fund a single account. Thereby each person contributes 1/5 or 1/4 to have access to all purchased games. This goes for full games & DLC's.
Each person has that account on his or her PS3 and uses it to download the games and install.
Once installed, the game is accessible to any account on the console.
So in essence the shared account becomes a secondary account only used for downloads.

These gaming pools are mostly restricted to friends who play the same genre or have similar gaming interests.

It works for a group of friends that play online together mostly, to ensure that they all have the same games and access to the latest DLC's.

That was what I was hoping for! Would this also work with nsn-PS+ DLC, like the new map pack for Black Ops 2, for instance?

I think I'll hold on the subscribing to PS Plus until more info on the PS4 is released and if it will carry over onto that one.

I see when you have PS Plus it will count for both the PS4 and the PS3. I don't really know what this means in regards to the content that you already have on your PS Plus - but I assume it will be content specific. I.e. you won't be able to play the PSNP PS3 games on PSNP PS4.

And you get an extra 3 months now. Just wanted to know from the peeps that have it for a while. On the 25th some of the games are going away, but I won't be able to download everything by then. If I just click on purchase and pause, will I be able to still download it after the 25th.

And those games are big man. 18Gig,12gig,6gig for games. I will probably have to put in a 2TB HD.

Ooh I have some questions regarding this too!

I have a UK PSN account, but the ZA price is much cheaper (R625 vs R489). And there appears to be no way to change your country. Any ideas?

I hope "new account" isn't the answer...

We get the eu psn account. If you log in you go to the eu site

Unfortunately, new account is the answer.

Fortunately you can set up multiple accounts on the PS3.
I have mine set up with ZA, UK, USA & Japan accounts.

Use ZA account for PSN+. All items downloaded are accessible to all accounts on the physical unit.

Your existing content will remain, but won't work on PS4, until they enable that Gaikai streaming feature (this part is still speculation)

Yes, you wil be able to download it as long as you clicked purchase, and as long as you have a plus subscription.
IMO I would rather buy plus for R365 per year from BT Games than pay R489 on PSN.

It's quicker to do that from here using a pc: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com

I have upgraded the hard drive in my PS3 slim, to 1TB. I couldn't find a larger capacity drive at the time, and as of right now, having downloaded everything that I own on PSN, I still have 200GB free space.

You have to be careful about which hard drive you choose, because it can only take 2.5" drives, and not even all of them. It has to be a drive that is 9.5mm thick, and typically the larger capacity 2.5" drives are made thicker than this (I have a Western Digital scorpio blue, but any drive that is listed as small enough to fit in a macbook air will also fit in a ps3.

This question was answered earlier in the thread.

The problem I have with this options is for PS4 you need PS+ to play online, so that means I have to ditch my old account. Was hoping to avoid that.

:( Oh well, new one it is then
