PS2 at Pick ' n Pay

Hi

Where currently are the best deals for PS2? Pick n Pay Hypermarket is advertising the PS2 for R1749 with 2 controls + 8meg card.

(I did see a Hifi Corruption advert but am a bit sceptical of them, don't need to stand in their queues again.)
 
The best deal I saw was at Makro a month ago.. PS3 for R999.. most probably out of stock now...

You do realise that the PS2 is now last gen and very few new games are going to be made for it though?

That doesn't necessarily make it a bad choice. There is an enormous back library of great games to choose from-often at discounted prices :)

It would be scary if they werent out of stock at that price! :D

You'll get a much better deal picking up a slightly used one with games.

I also thought so, but all the 2nd hand ones I saw advertised was for R2500+, because of 2gig memory, 40 controllers, 60 games blah.

The PS2 is for the kids (7/9), so all the games offered with the used ones are way above them.
 
I found all the good deals went quite quickly, but getting a good price can also depend on whether you're willing to just offer a much lower price.
