PS3 acting up

So on sunday, i switched on my ps3, and wanted to watch a movie, as soon as the movie was on, the ps3 went off on its own, now if i switch it on, the light remains red, beeps twice, and then goes off...

Seeing as its still one of the old, fat ones, its not in warranty any more. so what do i do? who do i take it to?

I also just bought GT5, and haven't had the opportunity to play it yet

Maybe give them a call, I'm sure that they can repair it even if its out of warranty?

In the mean time, I would be glad to babysit your copy of GT5

my 40gb phat ps3 also died on me. when i tried to turn it on it would beep and the light would change to orange. i'm pretty sure it had YLOD. i sold it as scrap and bought a 160gb slim. hopefully the new slims are more reliable!

My 60gig phat-boy is still going strong, and it was a launch one!

I has the same issue a while back.
Removing the hard drive and putting it back in sorted the issue out for me.

Perhaps give it a try before booking it in with Part Serve

How much did you sell it for, if you dont mind my asking?
Was it difficult to find a buyer?
