I don't think PS3 can connect via ad hoc to share internet. Years back before I had adsl I tried connecting PS3 to N95(Using some wifi hotspot app). The app was limited to ad hoc and was not supported by PS3. This was with older firmware 4-5 years back. Maybe its supported with new firmware...
