Hi All,

I have a PS3 bought in SA, so it's the standard one we get here (PAL I suppose, if this is an option?).

I am going to America next Friday for a holiday, and would like to know if Blu Rays I buy there will work on my PS3. Is there something I need to look at specifically? Which 'regions' will work on my ps3?

Any info appreciated!

Bluray Movies = Region locked
PS3 games = No Region lock

Although you do get some region free Blurays which may work. You need to look out for Region 2 for Africa/Europe. USA is Region 1 so wont work unfortunatley.

cool, thanks for that, makes sense that games are not region locked. I have a region free bluray disc, will check for some of those in the states.

Interesting info from Wiki:

Some current estimates suggest 70% of available Blu-ray (movie) discs from the major studios are region-code-free and can therefore be played on any Blu-ray Disc player, in any region.

Movie studios have different region coding policies. Among major U.S. studios, Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios have released all of their titles region-free.[74][75] Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. have released most of their titles region-free.[76][77][78] Lionsgate and Walt Disney Pictures have released a mix of region-free and region-coded titles.[79][80] 20th Century Fox and MGM have released most of their titles region-coded.[81][82]

If you go to www.bluray.com they usually say if the movie is region locked or not so get a list of movies you could but look them up and see if they come out region blocked in the US then if you find them buy them
