Well apparrently it's up and running showing which games will work on rev. 1.6 firmware http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc/bcGames.htm. I can't seem to access it myself, maybe it's too busy atm but the kind people at Joystiq have copied the data into a couple of convenient Google Docs spreadsheets for us - http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/20/breaking-down-the-euro-ps3s-backward-compatiblity/ . Yeeha looks like FFXII only has minor issues, now I can go buy .

Most games shows "No known issues to date". Very little has "Should play on PLAYSTATION®3 with noticeable issues". So unless you want to play something specifically, you shouldn't really have a problem overall.

Once again a big fuss was made over nothing.

I just checked Metal Gear Solid 3 and Final Fantasy XII and most of the version have serious problems playing.

I wish someone would be bored enough to find out exactly what the ratio is...

EA games seem to have the most problems though?

Ah ok.

Only 17% has "noticeable issues". A big 44% of PS2 games works with "no known issues". 10% with "minor issues". And 27% of the games hasn't been listed yet, or doesn't work.

I'd say overall it won't be a biggie.

Yeah thats fine but take me for an example, I never had a ps2 but there are games such as FFXII that are so good I have been dying to play them. Having to now go and buy a ps2 would be a waste of money and would clutter up my tv area.
