PS3 Connecting problems/queries

Oi people
I recently got a 384k line. i have an uncapped account and a 300Duo router. (the Standard one from telkom)
I would like to know if will i be able to wirelessly connect my ps3 and then update my GT5.
The game is legendary and as I understand it im only seeing half the game without updating it.
Please help me with the wireless part of this as well. i had a quick look the other day at the router and ps3 and it was pretty greek to me.

What exactly are you struggling with? just go into your ps3 network settings, choose wireless connection and select the network to connect to, its pretty simple. Just make sure your router is in range of the console.
 
As for gt5.... huge dissapointment, looking forward to forza 4 now :), demo is awesome.

is the router set up already? are you using wifi to connect a pc to the web? if so no further setting up is needed, you just connect to the network.
 
nope. i think im just being lazy will get the old installation cd and do it like that.
But how long is it going to take me to update the GT5. i know the latest update was 600Mb and there is another one.

you dont need the cd, just change the settings in the browser page on your pc, as for the update... its gonna take a while since you are on 384k. With big updates/installs i usually just leave it overnight or when i go out. Its gonna be a pain on your line though because updates cant run in the backround, also no pausing or resuming.

HOLY CRAP. I started the GT5 update last night at 7pm
1: update ps3 software 1hour
2: Update GT5 no 1 = 608Mb
3 update 2 = 308Mb
4 update 3 = 49Mb
5 update 4 = 48Mb
6 update 5 = 380Mb
7 update 6 = 133Mb
8 update 7 = 64Mb
9 Update 8 = 13Mb
10 update 9 = 1.1Mb (finally)
11 intall GT% this takes another hour.

That is like 24 hours for one game
/throws the keyboard and walks away

another update of 1.2Gb. on 10/10/2011 WHAT?

Correct.. there are quite a few enhancements with updates... better to just let it run..
going wireless will slow down your download times, and is not recommended for online gaming. Yes you can do it, but it is not ideal...
 
is there no way to download updates via pc and transfer to ps3? I haven't ever updated any games because I've not had internet at home.
 
Yes there is, its called a PS3 Proxy search google or try the PS3za.co.za community forum they'll set you right mate ;)
