Ps3 Downgrading

So I can't seem to find what I'm looking for exactly, wonder if anyone would be willing to help....
I am really wanting to downgrade my ps3 to 3.55 then install latest CFW mainly to add rebug tool and install linux although backing up my originals is a big part of it too...

I'm just curious if anyone knows of anyone in jhb preferably east rand area, even more hopefully if any of the stalls at east rand flea market do downgrading...

I'd do it myself if I knew anyone with an e3 flasher and buying one at that price I might as well pay someone else to do it...

I'm kinda desperate been looking forever and all I can find is a dodgy looking ad for a place in pta that does it.

Also I'd prefer not to send my ps3 off to capetown to have it done.

You cannot downgrade.

This morning I installed a new 750GB hard drive into my PS3 and it required that I reinstall firmware 4.40. It would not allow me to install an older firmware.


Anyway, people should not buy a console if they want to pirate.

I have No intention of pirating.

Also you can downgrade with a flasher and my ps3 is a few years old so I'm not worried about opening the console and voiding the warranty.

If your so knowledgeable then why do bother posting on this forum.

But if you want to downgrade then you won't be able to connect online to PSN or be able to play any of the recent games.

I'm not trying to be funny all I'm asking is if someone knows of a place that does it. I have done a lot of research on the jailbreaking itself that's not the issue.

Also you can go on PSN with the latest CFW just as long as you don't use cheats cause that's when you get console bans.

That is not true. I'm running Rogero CEX-4.40 v1.03 on my PS3 and I'm on PSN and playing the latest games.

I also want to know who can do this, I have a couple of friends that wants their PS3's downgrade to OFW 3.55 and then upgrade it to CFW 4.40

If I had an e3 flasher and I managed to downgrade mine without bricking I'd gladly do it for you as well.
 
I believe downgrading is only possible if your PS3 had a FW < 3.60 at some stage in it's life

Yeah it had to have been under 3.55 before and I've used min version checker and mine is 2.7 so I could downgrade to that if I wanted to so it is possible on my console
 
Hey guys. bit of a necro. Is it possible to get a brand new consol with a firmware 3.55 or below?

Na not possible man... If you want a new ps3 you can look into the ODDE's that have been released... Otherwise second hand ps3 is the way to go
