Hi Guys

New to the forum - recently purchased a PS3 and PS3 Move - just need to know if i should be aware of any firmware updates for the consol itself ??? if so where can i get these. . . . . . .:)

If u planning on Jailbreaking do not update past 3.41!!

There is an option in the settings menu for "System Update". You can update the system there.

If your PS3 is connected to your home network it will download and install the update.

If you are not connected to the Internet you can update the software using a USB flash drive. You will need to download the update on another PC. You can find it at http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/ .

Theres also a update on the move demo disc that comes with the starter pack.

If you wanna play online, don't jailbreak. If you need to update, rather do it via http, as the download on the PS3 is horrendously slow.

Thanks a mil guys - will check my latest version of firmware when i get home ....

i willcome to you guys regarding breaking out jail ..... :-)

If u remove the device it cant detect it online because the hack isn't stored on the ps3
Eish.
If you jailbreak and then install the backup manager(why else would you jailbreak) , it can be detected online, even if you remove the usb device!
You cannot use the jailbreak on the newer firmware, and you cannot go online without the newer firmware.

If you do not update your firmware, you cannot play online!!!! The latest firmware update has removed the backdoor.

The next step is for these guys to hack the firmware, it's already in progress.

Sony might have won the battle but the war they will probably lose.

Hacking firmware is not going to work if you make use of PSN as Sony will just constantly add in features to identify it. Very easy.

But where the market lies for a hacked firmware are where PS3's are used in Radars, supercomputers and military hardware. The new PS3 slim closed that market.
