PS3 from the states

Ok so check it out.
My grandmam bought me a entry level ps3 from the states when they were first released. Its a 40 gig console with two controllers etc etc, seeing as though i use it for games only and i play one game till i finished it i never thought i would need to upgrade my ps3.
However I just bought myself a LED tv and would like to watch blue ray movies on the thing, as fate would have it I cant watch any og them short of getting them imported from the states.
To get to the point
CAN YOU CHIP OR MOD A PS3 TO IGNORE BLUE RAY ZONES?

No but most BD movies are region free. Look for a list on the interwebz

I read on Engadget a few weeks back that one of the updates for the PS3 was supposed to remove region blocking.

You can change the region on the system I think 2 or 3 times. Not sure how though.

IIRC PS3 games are region free, not sure about BD
