PS3 Games Cheaper than Xbox 360!

As nice as that might sound to you, it'll never happen. MS already have the customer base and 3rd party support to react to any price cuts in the P$3 (which won't even happen immediately, they will still sell it at it's initial high price first). No matter how $ony prices the P$3, the 360 will always be cheaper. That's the price you pay for launching almost 2 years late. Sorry fanboy

Even if they were (hypothetically) identical on price, I'd still go with the 360 because of it's online capability. Technically they're virtually identical, and the 360 even has a slight graphical edge in some comparisons. With the 360 you also get the option of upgrading to an HD-DVD player when you're ready to do so. I don't want an HD-DVD player forced down my throat, I want to upgrade when I'm ready to upgrade. $ony doesn't give you any options, you have to take their consoles as is.

I would look at the history of the 2 companies as well. What did we get from the Xbox1 and the PS2. That should be a good indication of what we'll get with the new systems.

@ JK8, the two devices will never be the same price, Blu-ray has seen to that, so I will not answer your question because it's not viable. I'll say this though:

"If you ignore console specific differences and compare just the important bit - the games - which would you chose?"

The 360 wins hands down.

1. Comparing current and future games catalogue the 360 wins. The PS3 as half a dozen exclusives of note, the 360 has more than 2 dozen titles you will not get on the PS3, and that's just off the top of my head, nor does it include XBLA titles. Now, for me, those PS3 exclusives are rehash sequels of long in tooth franchises, the 360 IP has a lot of "New IP" which appeals to me a lot more.

2. Games look better on the 360. That's a fact for current games, and there looks to be no reason for it to change in the future. to the contrary the evidence is strongly in favour of the 360 always staying ahead.

3. Online play - 360 kicks PS3 out the park here I'm afraid.

Now if you what to look at other contributing factors lets talk Hi-def movies - PS3 has Blu-ray. Okay. At R200 a pop. Thanks, but Telkom has already announced that the 360 will support their IPTV platform, so I can get my HD movies, on demand, streamed straight to my house for a heck of a lot less. That's my preference, others may differ.

Lol heres an something to think about, PS3 and Xbox, same price, console and games.

What would you buy?

I would buy the Xbox...no question....here's why. M$ are concentrating hard on getting GOOD exclusive software....as the new comer, underdog, then know they have to try harder to win over gamers and they are trying harder. Xbox have Gears o War, Perfect Dark and will be getting Banjo Threeie..I'm sold!! Expect to see many more quality exclusive titles. M$ have the bank roll to BUY market share through exclusive content and thats exactly what they are doing. They bought me.....

The only reason I ever would have bought a Sony console was Resident Evil 4 (undoubtedly one of the best games I ever played), but then that came out on Gamecube, and the graphics were better on the latter anyways.

Ermm if you have faith in them, then by definition you're biased towards them. This wouldn't make it hard for them to impress you. Therefore contradictory.

You're not giving the opposition a chance to appeal to you, you're writing them off completely without even test driving them. And you're willing to pay twice the price for what is essentially technically the same (bar blu-ray)?

Well to be Frankly honest i dont think any1 is gonna root for PS3 here. He would be "boo'd and aahhd" because of the fan base of 360.

Fortunetly, wether PS3 is better than the 360 is of no concern to, me i will just wait for the price to drop so that its somewhat affordable.

Just one thing that concerns me is that sony packs such a powerfull machine but games look better on the 360, why is that? Im not very technical sorry!

I still think that both PS3 and xbox are brilliant consols, i had the oppertunity of playing gears of war, great game and all that,but i will still stay with the Sony,

Will Final fantasy and tekken6 ever go to Xbox?
