Playstation3 fans in Europe will soon be able to record and playback digital TV using Sony’s new TV tuner called Sky+.
The launch date is set for early 2008 in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain but unfortunately no prices have been released as yet.
Sony has also failed to mention when they will ship this new device to SA. It seems we will have to wait a bit longer for the successful European launch before Sky+ hits our shelves. But with digital TV really only still a distant dream in SA, the SABC are talking about 2011 for analogue TV switch off, it is doubtful that Sony will be in any type of rush to launch in SA.
According to BBC reports, our lucky European friends will be able to stream programmes over a wireless connection to the PS3 or they can permanently transfer it using a USB cable.
