Ps3 HDD upgrade

Hi Guys

We have a 1st gen ps3 console which is only a 12gb hdd. I have not opened it up yet. Will i be able to put in a 500gb or 1tb?

Yes.. you'll need the hard drive tray though..

Ita actually a 3rd gen PS3 and you need a bracket like posted above.

You can put up to a 1TB drive.

PS: the drive needs to be a 2.5" Laptop HDD, I recommend one that is 7200RPM to lower the loading times.

Thanks guys. I found the hdd slot. I thought it had to be opened but its on the side. Ill see if i can find out where i can purchase a bracket.

Had a hard time finding one two years ago and eventually found one at bt games..
