PS3 Jailbreak???

AFAIK, the flash drives used to jailbreak the PS3's won't void the warranty, since you're not opening the PS3 or tinkerking with the software. The flash drive loads up its own software before the PS3 boots (which is why you hit the eject button a nanosecond after powering on the PS3).

Am I understanding this correctly? o.O

What does having your friends over have anything to do with jailbreaking?

Firstly, I re-read my post... it was not an attack on you personally - apologies if it came across like that.

When having people over, I always want to be playing the latest games available to the market, yes there are classics that one can't get rid of, but what better to play the latest Fifa or Halo or any other multiplayer title with friends. Also with Jailbreak you'll have so much more titles to choose from once they loaded to the HDD.

Who cares as we are on Firmware 3.55 already.

I know, but it will be a while before 3.55 is hacked...lol

Dunno about the eject button, but yes, no tampering with hardware or software. It just loads software called device manager or somthing like that, which allows you to make the backup.

Anyways guys, I am just trying to play devil's advocate here in any case, whether or not I will jailbreak my PS3 is something I haven't decided on yet.

Like I said, my xbox is flashed, and all multiplatform titles I will by will be on the xbox. The PS I would like to reserve for exclusives (can't wait to buy God of War) and will try PSN before I decide to jailbreak.

For now, I can't wait to get home to play with motion controllers and practice my swing on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 :)

Be careful with which device you buy....some cause the bluray drive to stop working so do some research 1st.....we will be testing our product before our site is running again and will confirm

I would also be scared of your device 'cause your interwebscite is broken :)

AFAIAC all I am doing here is loading an original game to the original HDD in order to play directly from the HDD. I could say my reason is to preserve my lens.

This is always the lamest excuse for piracy. The Xbox 360 (and I'm assuming PS3?) can install games to the harddrive. So when you play the game, it reads everything from the drive, and just checks if the dvd is in the rom.

That's why I said, I could use the preserve my lens excuse if I wanted to.

u right- the xbox, copies the game to HDD but u need the actual game disc to be in the drive in order to play - I have a 250GB HDD on the xbox. Same concept on PS3 though, but here you can use any disc to start the game though. Both consoles only need the disc for initial startup from what I can see, thereafter everything runs straight from the HDD. Still aids in preserving lens life. :)

Oh yes - afaik - only after the jailbreak are u able to load the game to the HDD, otherwise it always runs off the disc with only a few files copied to your console. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Here's the low down...The JB device only puts the PS3 into debug/dev mode which allows you to install package files. (The debug mode is build into the PS3's firmware, which is why it no longer works on 3.41 FW - they moved the code) Once in JB mode you need to install a package manager which is installed onto the PS3 harddrive - there are rumours Sony might be able to detect this but who knows. You need to be in JB mode to the homebrew software which then allows you to play copies off internal/external drives.

There are so many Sony T&C's that chances are by running the unsigned code in JB mode you are violating some agreement and they are probably within their rights to ban you/void your warranty.

If you want to JB your console all well and good, just know that nothing is foolproof and you stand the change of being banned/losing warranty.

True true.... I thought the PS Jailbreak died to be honest

This thread should be locked. People that want homebrew will find a way. People on this forum just want to pirate(Obviously I'm generalising but valid I think).
