PS3 Movie Format

I downloaded a series for my brother ... 1.3GB .mkv ... He says the PS3 can't see them. I'm going to use Super C to convert - but is the best best codec etc that the PS3 can watch directly?

.mp4 is usually the best for PS3

Freemake Video Converter uses the following preset for PS3:

Audio Codec: AAC
Video Codec: H.264
