Hi Guys

I have been having a problem for a few months now that I cant seem to solve and hope that someone can help me here

I have a DLink DSL 2640u router and have used this perfectly for all my PS3 games with no issues. The only game that WILL not connect up is Modern Warfare 2. I have never managed to connect up with it once, It does not get past connecting to matchmaking server.

I have tried lots:
- Hard reset
- DMZ
- NAt Open, Firewall disable
- Static IP setup
- Port forward

I have another Telkom router which works fine. The problem is that router does not support VPN so I cant retrieve my work email on it. The Dlink connects fine for my work email so its quite frustrating switching routers.

Please can you try and assist me. Anything would be useful. If someone here has a DLink 2640u router and plays cod mw2 on ps3 let me know.

Thanks :D

OMG, I am experiencing the exact same thing!

Just changed from mweb to afrihost and in the process had to change my router (mweb had locked the other 1 + it had rubbish wireless).

Only game I have ever played online is MW2 and it worked fine with the previous router. With the D-Link router I have the exact same problem as you, cant get past "Connecting to Matchmaking Server"

So I tried the following to troubleshoot:

Modem 1 + MWeb = Working
D-Link + MWeb = MW2 not working
D-Link + Afrihost = MW2 not working

There must be some setting on this router I am missing or a fault with the router.

Ping responses were also slightly faster with the Afrihost connection.

Spartan, have you found a solution to this problem? Otherwise my next stop is D-Link...

Got it working!

I disabled UPnP on my PS3, still would not connect
I then disabled UPnP on my Router and it connected 1st time
Then I tried enabling them both again and it still works :wtf:

So maybe turning UPnP off and on in the router managed to reset something? I have no idea...

Super stoked its working, now just need to kick my SO off the TV

I had the same problem with Killzone 2 and MW2. Couldn't find a fix so I sold the games

WOW Thanks... uPnP must be broken on these routers! I have Hardware revision C1. Also connected 1st time after i disabled it on both the PS3 & Dlink router...

it might have something to do with the fact that i had it connected to a siemens router last week which had uPnP also...

This happened to me too :(

I connected to another friend's router with my Xbox 360 and when I got back home I couldn't connect to Xbox Live through my router anymore

But all I had to do was disable and re-enable the UPnP :D and it started working again

This thread FINALLY solved all my Xbox Live problems  so thanks alot

If anyone doesn't know where to find the UPnP checkbox in your router settings page, here are some instructions:

1) Log in to your router page on your web browser

2) Click on "Advanced Setup"

3) Scroll down to "LAN"

4) Uncheck "Enable UPnP"

5) Save and reboot your router

6) Check "Enable UPnP"

7) Save and reboot your router again

Here's a screenshot too:

I would've link you to the other thread I posted in, but I figured I'd just repost here to save you the time and effort of reading :D

Hope this helps someone out :)
