Hey guys/girls, I have quite a few DVD's that I bought in USA, while I was living there, now I see I can't play any off those DVD's with my PS3, is there a way to make my PS3 region free ?

I know I can copy them with a program & make the DVD's region free, but that will be my last route.

Thanks guys for the help, if there is any

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that you could install a linux distro and a coupla other apps (provided you don't own the slim) and get it to work that way, but then you probably would not benefit from the up scaling ect...

Otherwise you would have to copy the disk to remove the region.
Use CloneDVD or something similar

While you can't make your PS3 region free, it is possible to make your BD player or DVD player Region free (for DVDs). I recently punched in a key combo and made my Samsung BD player region free for DVDs, alas it is still Region B for Bluray DVDs.

It is possible to buy BD players which are multiregion (A, B, C) for Bluray playback too - they sell for about $400 + $100 for FedEx shipping online - there's one nice Panasonic model I wouldn't mind getting. They're modded to play all Blurays and DVDs from across the world.

Your other bet to play Bluray disks from Region A and C as well as B is to use AnyDVD HD with your PC and a bluray writer/drive.

Strader... the ps3 is region locked for dvd's and blu-ray discs..
only the games are (currently) region free...

u can find mny ways to get the discs to work but its so much work/headache...
just wait for the SA release and notch the US purchase as a loss...
unless its classic/cult stuff that you'd never get here and then i'd advise getting the region free player peter spoke about...
