So the PS3 is finally hitting our shores tonight at 12:00 in certain shops only.

From what I can find only 3 franchises are open tonight.

BT Games, CNA and Look&Listen with BTGames holding the biggest midnight party of the lot.

It is rumoured that 5000 units have been allocated for the SA launch and BT Games has had a greater response to pre-orders for the PS3 than it did with the Xbox 360 last year...

BT Games has 422 PS3's nationwide so if you want one then going to the midnight launch seems to be the best idea.

Just shows how a brand name has its mark on the regular populace. Pity its not on a Friday midnight or else I would have just been keen to see the costumes worn by folks trying to win a PS3 for free @ the BT Games launch.

I am going to try and get out to Northgate tonight to get some pictures... Maybe even buy my new Xbox at the same time :D..

I would love a PS3 but I can't bring myself to pay R6000+ for a console.

Ahh you Googled, but I think it was the 22 March meaning 12 early this morning.

The pre-order response isn't surprising because South Africa has effectively been an exclusively Playstation country for years.

True but when you check the price of the PS3 and then the poll running on this forum where 90% say they don't want one I still find it suprising.

I'm sure it's a surpise for some 360 fanboys who commented on the 3 to 4 PS3's that will get sold. ;)

But be honest, the people on this forum are just one of many demographics in SA. Just because someone plays games, doesnt mean they'll be on an internet forum ;)

Agreed I guess I under estimated the amount of people who are capable of spending that much money on a PS3...

Anyone here getting one?

Haha, I think the other thread kinda covered that one already Gav ;)
Tho I'm quite surprised ole JK8 isn't getting one tonight. Maybe its the price....

Im only a fan of it on this site coz everyones against it. I like them but im not the biggest get it before everyone else typa fan.

roughly from theINQ what else you could have gotten for a ps3's price

Other ways to spend ÂŁ425 (apart from getting a ps3)
* Xbox 360 (£199.99) + Mikomi 15” flat-screen LCD TV (£ 129.99) + Acoustic Solutions home cinema speakers (£79.99) = £ 409.97
* Dell laptop (ÂŁ349) + Logitech webcam (ÂŁ24.99) + Microsoft wireless mouse (ÂŁ22.49) + USB drinks warmer (ÂŁ13.95) = ÂŁ 410.43
* Silver PS2 (ÂŁ99.99) + Nintendo DS Lite (ÂŁ99.99) + iPod Nano (ÂŁ 99) + Sony Cybershot digital camera (ÂŁ105) = ÂŁ403.98
...

x360 eleet is coming ;)

and besides cell cpu is really a good product. maybe abit in its infancy still

Not to blow ppls trumpets but I would suggest that folks who read/comment on this forum are better informed that the average. The average being the typical buyer who gets a ps3 because his young son starts screaming in the shop when he refuses to! and to be honest R6k for a lot of people is less than pocket change.........

People like that should probably be sterilised and have their children taken away.

But are there enough people who can afford to throw away an extra three thousand to sustain the PS3 in South Africa? We're about to find out.

How to get 1 almost for Free:
1/ Use the money you have to hire a bodyguard.
2/ Threaten to sell the pictures of the dudes fighting and clowning around trying to get one for free.
3/ Use this money to buy a PS3 and if all goes well also the X-Box.

:D
