Hi Guys

Just want to know if its possible to replace the hard drive of the PS3 slim with and 2nd Gen exisiting PS3?

So it is possible then but from what I have read it will ask you to format your hard drive not sure if that's correct?

Any laptop drive, if its the one with the 12GB flash storage you will need to buy a HDD bracket, most gaming shops stock them @R200 (Sony brand).

PS3 will format its self to the correct files system. its Fat32 BTW.

My bro-in-law said you get those drives now which are the same size as to older ones. Then you don't need the bracket. I might have misunderstood him though.

That's for the Super Slim. The normal Slims all had hard drives, and any standard laptop drive works, provided it's standard height and not a bit thicker as the early 1TB drives were.

just did this last week
now I have lots of space
for all my PSN games
1TB PS3 :D
