Purchased a new D-Link DSL-2640U ADSL router to replace an old Netgear one. I've managed to hook up both PC and desktop via wireless and LAN cable respectively. I've also connected my PS3 using wireless which works fine except in XMB it cannot find any media servers running one the desktop. I've tried using both Java PS3 Media Server and TVersity, neither one can be picked up by the console. I've also attempted to use a LAN connection for the console which then works perfectly. This was previously working using the Netgear wireless router. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It is turned on. I've just figured out that if I keep the connection between console and PC the same i.e. both wired or both wireless then it works perfectly. I've currently got a USB dongle connected to the desktop and the console finds the media server (and vice versa) but I would prefer to have the desktop on the wired LAN. Any ideas why the media server can't be found when the connections are different?

hey steve

i've got mine working when both wired or wireless. ps3 detects media server no problems. doesnt matter if they are both wired or wireless, my media server has always been wired to the lan but ps3 always moves around the house and if it's not connected to the lan, connects to wireless and both works.

just confirming that it does work. not sure why yours is giving you issues :(

Edit: Am using the java ps3 media server for linux btw. but i've tried the windows version it also works.

Thanks. Mine was also working when using a combination of wired/wireless however this new D-Link router seems to have some issues.

Great :( going to phone D-Link again tomorrow, they suggested I upgrade the firmware which I did however the problem wasn't resolved.
