Hey all,

Trying to set up a friends ps3 on wireless network. Just got a omnidirectional wireless extender and its pointed towards his flatlet that is about 20 - 30 metres away...

His laptop picks up the signal fine in his flatlet and can browse internet. But the playstation 3 only sees it occasionally and when it does its a 17% signal strength and it wont connect.

Any suggestions or aid?

Thanks

Um... Omnidirectional and pointed in a direction?

Try changing the security on the network from WPA2 to WPA. That sometimes works with the PS3 (especially if it's a netgear AP)

hahaha i meant not omnidirectional :) ok will try changing the security. Also was wondering if the ps3 had like a minimum signal strength that it would connect to ?

I did two things:

1. Switched to OpenDNS and
2. Moved the PS3 1.5m closer to the router ie moved to other side of the TV

and now it all works very well.

If the Laptop is always at home when the PS3 is on, you could direct the signal through the laptop.

(I know it is not the ideal answer, but it could be a solution until the cause of the problem is found)
