PS4 pricing leaked?

Makes sense if one considers bluray became cheaper, using mostly off the shelf chipset components from a big manufacturers and not custom fab limited run stuff as per the previous model.

R4200 ...

Sony is expected to reveal the Playstation 4 on 20 February, and it’s been reported that “industry sources” have leaked the yet-to-be-announced console’s price.

“Industry sources and leaked internal documents suggest that Sony is considering pricing the new device at about £300, more than £100 cheaper than the starting cost of its predecessor,” said British newspaper The Times.

The Times’ article also adds that Sony won’t announce this price at the event, along with the release date, as Sony will wait to see what Microsoft has up their sleeve.

“Because company executives want to see Microsoft’s updated Xbox before PS4′s release, Sony is unlikely to reveal exact prices or dates for the new PlayStation at next week’s event,” adds the newspaper.

£300 then equates to under R4,200, which is a significant amount lower than the PS3′s SA launch price. However this guesstimate doesn’t take into account the channel costs of getting the product onto SA shores.

Just add the 100% markup for sterkinekor and we going to be moving to xbox720s instead.

Have an original PS3. Still don't use it. POS can't read NTFS USB drives. Won't get caught again.

..|. Sony

Not sure why you'd have a PS3 solely for use as a media player, I assume that's your intention with the USB. Why haven't you sold it?

I have never owned a new generation gaming console, but I thought NTFS is possible by utilising multiMAN on the PS3, not sure though.

The games were crap. The graphics average. It would be useful as a media player as it can do 1080p.

I kept it as my dvd player packed up and my housemate has a large dvd collection.

Multiman does enable you to view your NTFS partitions but only for file transfer.

@bio it would be better to just sell it and buy another bluray player (or even 3) as backup considering the PS3's ridiculous power consumption*. :p

Average Bluray Player 20W

Average Blu-Ray player won't be able to tap into the media capabilities Sony will be offering with the console. How many Blu-Ray players can be updated to work with new security protection systems, or offer any other entertainment options besides watching media?

Selective reading? He only uses his PS3 for bluray/DVD function.

Quite a few bluray players come with Ethernet ports, so they can run updates

November would be a good release time, just in time for the holiday shoppers.

R4200? lol
Taking account the Ster Kinekor markup & import tax, you should rather budget for around 8k for one of them...
