Good evening.
Recently my triangle, square and options button became unresponsive.

Yesterday I decided to open up the controller and cleaned the various buttons.

I assembled again and the buttons worked fine, but I noticed that the light bar didn't work anymore. It didn't bother me, so I left it that way. However I later discovered that the charging port didn't work.

Googled and found that the same 14 pin flat ribbon cable for the light bar also provides power to the charging port.

Opened up the controller and fixed the problem and closed up again.
The light was now on and the battery could charge.

A bit later I discovered that the light did not switched off when the controller was switched off.

Again I opened the controller and removed the cable.
This time I saw that the copper contact points were damaged. Some have lifted and were broken off and one contact point was bent at angle and was creating a short.

I tried snipping the broken tips off with a scissor, but there aren't enough of the contact points left to conduct, once inserted into the slot.

I saw that the cable is about $3 - 5 in the USA, but someone in Cape Town is selling the cable for R200.00.

Does anybody know where I can buy one cheaper or where I can buy a stripper tool for a 14 pin flat cable or any other method for stripping it without the relevant tool?

I saw someone mentioned acetone, but I still need a plastic backing for the contact in order to get it in the socket again.

Tldr:
Looking for a replacement 14 pin flat ribbon cable for the light bar / charging port or a method to strip the cable.

Thank you

They sell parts & spares for most consoles. I bought 2 2000mah batteries for my ds4's from them. I hope they have what ur looking for. :)

Yeah Xmods is your best bet.

Also email them and ask if it's not on the store (might be a bit slow to respond this time of year).

Thx guys will contact them.

Thank you for the video Ponder.
I used acetone and a hobby knife to clean a bit more of the contact points.
Unfortunately the tracks still lifted a bit. The light bar is working again, but still not charging. So I have to clean again. Maybe I should make a clean cut like that guy did. Never thought about using my Dremmel though.

I will give it another go tomorrow. Unfortunately I can't really sit upright. Had an amputation or two the last couple of months and my feet swells too much if I let my legs hang down, so it is a bit of a schlep to work on something.

I will look on the website, but for the same reason already mentioned, I can't spend time at my desk where the pc is and I struggle a bit on the cell.

Just want to give some feedback.
XMods is closed till the 11th, so they weren't a short term solution for me.

I tried acetone and it worked, but didn't give me the result I was hoping for. Instead it lifted the contacts from the plastic backing, which was the opposite of what I wanted.

In the end I went with what the guy did in Ponder's video.
Instead of using my Dremmel, which I felt was too powerful, I used my wife's battery operated tool that is used for sanding/ shaping nails.

It worked pretty well and the controller is working properly again.

Thank you for the feedback and help.
