Does anyone know more or less when new stock of the above consoles are coming to Cape Town because i cannot find a shop or online store that has available anywhere.

I don't, but I have seen people in the PS5 thread update there when there is stock (for the PS5). As for the Xbox, it's touch and go. I got mine from Takealot, and it seems that same seller has taken an interest in scalping when stock arrives, so that's a no-go.

They're currently revising PS5 design already, 6nm chip etc, so I imagine the "old" PS5 stock will be dumped on SA surely.

I'll believe it when there's an official response from Sony and not just some "report" stating something.

Realistically, you will piss off a WHOLE bunch of PS5 owners if they get out a faster / smaller "PRO" version less than 2 years later.

This is a lot of speculation, and kind of out of the scope of this thread. I don't see that new chip being something other than a die shrink. Small performance gain + some power savings. It's probably going to be used for a slim version, or just in the same casing.

There are always new things on the horizon, that's just how things work. If people who bought launch consoles are going to be upset about a revision, they need to reevaluate their expectations.

The thing that's funny to me, all the speculations and "reports" states it's due to chip shortages.

What exactly will make a 6nm more readily available than a 7nm chip? The problem lies at the production lines with the materials they need and not the die itself.

The 6nm revision has been discussed last year already. They currently working on designs with AMD architecture teams and manufacture time is only booked at TSM 6nm plant for end of 2022, so those units will probably only be completed and up for sale as early as mid 2023.

This timeline is in line with normal Slim redesign that drop 3 years after main launch. So speculation is that its just that and not a "Pro" version.

Either way, you gonna wait a while ;)

Edit: I was looking for the original article I saw back in 2020 about it but a quick google gave me this that covers it as well.
