PS5

Can you elaborate?

I plan on picking up this game after I am done with Ghosts of Tsushima and Uncharted.
Sure. It's a beautiful looking game, however the story falls a bit flat compared to the first, the characters are a bit annoying and the gameplay is pretty much standard open-world fare.

This is a pretty common assessment of the title you'll find out there.

If you enjoy that sort of thing you'll have a solid time with it, but when I played it the formulaic PS open-world genre fatigue had well and truly set in.

The common assessment is that they're both rated very highly:

Zero Dawn (89%):

Forbidden West (88%):

I'm not saying they aren't highly rated.

I'm saying the second one, in particular, had common and valid criticisms leveled at it.

Yep, all games have criticisms - I'm just pointing out that both games were received very similarly and it's not like the second game is somehow much worse. I prefer the second game as the character interactions are just a lot more engaging and there is more of it.

And I'm just pointing out some of the commonality in what was criticized.

I don't think there is anyone that would argue that the graphic fidelity of the title does not outstrip its story/gameplay elements.

Your exact quote was "Yeah, but seriously lacking in other areas." which makes it sound like the game was a flop or something.

...versus the graphic fidelity. i.e. it is clear that by far and large most efforts went into how the sequel looked rather than how it played versus the original.

Does anyone only play one game at a time?

I am busy with Ghosts of T - and want to finish it. But it looks like a very long game. I've always only ever played one game at a time, generally.

One game of the same genre at a time for me. e.g. I could play Ghost of Tsushima, Gran Turismo and lets say Doom interchangeably

Yep. I generally don't like jumping between games. I take a long time with each one, usually.

I dispute that as well. But what are the other seriously lacking area's?

You can make it as short or as long as you like really.

I’ll stick to one story driven game at a time but can happily jump to a racing or puzzle game in between.

Having kids I play at least two others games at any one time between the two of them.

I think my problems with the second game by and large come down to “more of the same”.

It’s not new and fresh and exciting like the first game was and they’ve simply made it too big now so I find myself struggling to come back to it to finish it, whereas the first game I Platinumed happily and it was excellently paced all round.

So definitely it’s not a bad game, but it does have an element of just feeling like a very big DLC.
