PS5

Ragnarök is a continuation of God of War (2018), At that price (R600) it's a steal but you definitely need to play 2018 first.

As for the older games (2013 and earlier), you don't need to play them for this story - 2018 was when the series was rebooted with a whole new story and setup.

Pay for PSN Plus Deluxe for 1 month to play the first one as part of the sub. No point buying either if it isn’t your thing

Insomniac suffered a huge ransomware attack, hackers leaked info this morning. Click only if you want to see upcoming titles:

Marvel's Venom in Fall 2025
Marvel's Wolverine in Fall 2026
Marvel's Spider-Man 3 in Fall 2028
New Ratchet & Clank in Fall 2029
Marvel's X-Men in Fall 2030
New IP in 2031/2032

Sucks that they exposed a ton of personal information as well, passports, emails etc, absolute virgin behaviour.

All in on superhero franchises for the rest of the decade.

I wonder if that's wise considering super-hero fatigue has well and truly set in for movies

These games are so far off, 3 more years for Wolverine.

On the one hand I'm sad that personal info was leaked, but on the other hand I'm happy dates are out so people can temper expectations - because I kinda hoped Wolverine was coming next year as a showcase game for the PS5 Pro after the previous leak with concept artist profile leaked a 2024 date.

The ROI on Miles was 122%, SM1 remaster 48%, SM2 and Wolverine is projected to be 35% and 40% respectively. On the other hand, R&C rift apart didn't really sell well, and that is one of the IPs they are best known for (think it still needs to break even).

Safe to say these licensed IP games make them large amounts of money so it's a relatively safe bet for now.

I'll be surprised if they are not pushed out more now. Entire plot/story for Wolverine is out there including alpha builds of the game (apparently). I assume they will go back to the drawing board a bit :/

Ahh Thanks I see there is a trial might give it a go.

GoW 2018 - Definitely play it first. It is also a great game in its own right.
I also played GoW 3, which is also great. I completed it on PS3, then just wanted to check out what the PS4 upgrade looked like. I just wanted to play a little bit, and ended up completing it over the course of that weekend.
The story is pretty separate, but it gives you a good idea of who Kratos is, so I would recommend it.

I haven't played many PS5 games, but recommend these games overall:
The Last of Us
Uncharted Series. 1 is a bit weak, the rest gets better.
Baldur's Gate 3. Probably my best game of the decade.
RDR 2
GTA V

I'm new to console gaming I have always been gaming on PC, would appreciate some advice.

Now that my kids are bigger I'm looking at getting a PS5. But I will probably use it as well for racing games etc.

Which 4K 65" TV will go well with it?

Not sure if 120Hz is worth it?

Kids don't need the best equipment. Even with all the money I've spent on tech I can't seem the capture the same enjoyment I had as a kid on a PC that could run Quake at 25fps 240p.

120Hz - it's great and makes a big difference, if games support it. Few games do. With some new games not always going past 1080p, I don't know how many will go higher than 60fps.

VRR is also great, and I think more games will support it. It means that games won't drop to 30 or suffer screen tearing if they can't do 60.
120hz also brings more innovative solutions. Games can now target 40fps to not get screen tearing. No need to only get 30 or 60.

OLED is best*. No contest. Is it very expensive? Yes. Is it required for a good time? No.

Just make sure the TV has low input lag. This shouldn't be a problem now days, but I still don't trust Hisense and the cheaper brands because they sell different TVs under the same model number in different countries, so you can't get independent verification of numbers.

* - except in bright rooms when consuming dark content. Actually, dark content in any room that isn't pretty dim will give you some reflections.

Fellow PS5-ers, and other platforms, but let's keep it PS5... Listen.... not sure if anyone's mentioned this before, but get your collective hands on Cyberpunk 2077. It was a mess at launch, but with a flurry of fixes/updates and the Phantom Liberty expansion, it's easily one of the best games I've played on the platform. Rubbing shoulders with the Gods of War and the like. I'm currently on my third playthrough, on the highest difficulty, and I'm checking flames, but it's perfect flames hahaha.

Even now that it works I couldn't put more than 20 hours in before I was bored as hell.

There's that age old "keep playing it gets better" mantra that was the same for Witcher 3 and then I put hundreds of hours into that and it was still boring as hell too.

Also the bike and car physics....did they make any effort at all?

Ah man, sorry to hear that, I didn't enjoy the Witcher 3 either, but it's not really my type of game as good as everyone else seems to say it is.
As for CP2077, considering the effort they put into the narrative and what you can do in the game, the less-than-stellar car and bike physics shouldn't be concern, we're not talking about Gran Turismo here, but it's also not like the cars and bikes in the game are completely unplayable. I guess it's just not your cup of tea?
It's the type of redemption story that, as far as I can remember, only resonates with No Man's Sky's efforts at making something special out of a sh*tshow.
I'm defending CP2077, because I really enjoy the game, and I think more people should give it a go. One thing I did do was restart the story with each big update, with the most recent 2.1 update being the last big set of changes to the game.

No! The driving mechanics are still absolutely schit!

Having said that, in my opinion the game is certainly on my top ten best of all time, and I say that as someone who played on day one. I didn't have that much of an awful time, granted I was playing on a PS5 and there certainly were bugs and game crashes here and there.

Man, I love this game, got the plat on my second play through on the PS5 version and fully enjoyed it playing at around probably 400 hours in total.

It doesn't need to be Gran Turismo but to me it is literally unplayable it is so bad.

I think the problem with these types of games is that they are just so big that the story gets lost in them and the pace is lacking to keep me interested.

I've played it since launch then left it a while and went back to it after all the patches and then there were no issues as such...but getting through it even once is problematic never mind considering doing it three times.

I must say I haven't really experienced any disasters even at launch. Sure some funny glithches here and there but nothing game breaking.

I think one thing I would appreciated with all sandbox type games would be an auto-pilot mode that just takes care of the minutia I'm really not interested in.

Even better a mode that just strips out the side quests or marks them obviously and lets me get on with the main story only.

These games are simply too big for me to feel engaged.

Yes, I realise I'm basically asking for a sandbox game not be a sandbox game, but I feel this wouldn't be too hard to implement.
