PS5

It seems there’s an embargo on the PS5 Pro, which is why it’s only set for release on December 13th.

Wonder what this is about.

Huh? No there isn’t, there’s a review embargo as per usual, think it ends Wednesday.

Mine is arriving this Thursday on launch day…

There's been an embargo usually in the final week of release for almost every console.

Unboxing embargo was lifted yesterday and full review embargos are set to lift to tomorrow.

why would an embargo be the reason it releases on the 13th of December for us whereas it releases on Thursday for the rest of the world?
 
Waiting for the Digital Foundry videos to see the true improvements.

Direct message from Koodoo: There is an embargo on the PS5 Pro even if we have it beforehand we can't release the stock. The date is confirmed, if it change a notification will go out on any changes.

I can't speak for Koodoo but maybe they just phrased that poorly? I don't see why there would be an embargo on SA specifically when you can just buy it from UK Amazon and get it earlier...

I'd have to agree with that, I highly doubt there are region specific embargos, that makes no sense.

Was super hyped for the Pro but with this late December launch (not importing, don't want to deal with an intl. RMA if it sounds like a jet engine or coil whiney nightmare) and no big launches (I love you Astrobot but you aren't Aloy, Ellie, Spidey or Kratos), I'm just going to wait till next year.

Already played through most of the releases that I wanted to, so I see no reason to go back and replay them so soon just with higher resolution and some better upscaling.

But as soon as we reach the release month for whatever game is first out of the Ghost of Yotei/Death Stranding 2/GTA 6 trio I will be ready.
 
some ps5 pro footage from the channel below looks interesting, particularly the short re4 remake video where the pro just bruteforces to basically locked 60 while the normal ps5 is in the mid to low 50s.

I think what they mean is they are forced to launch them all together on the same day.

Wrong word really, but it’s to make sure every customer gets it at the same time.

Timestamped [Overall impressions - is PS5 Pro worth the money?]

Not really a regular DF viewer, but were there not always 4 of them? The guy missing was very outspoken and brutally honest with his initial PS5 Pro views...

Only watched the timestamped bit, and they... do not sound too enthusiastic? The talk of not wanting to see $700.00 consoles in the future: wait till the promised tariffs kick in.
