PS5 System Update for December 2024 Out Now

PS5 system software update 24.08-10.40.00 patch notes (December 3, 2024)

Complete patch notes for the latest PS5 system update is as follows:

  • We’ve improved the process of transferring data from another PS5 and enhanced stability when transferring large amounts of data, such as captures.
  • We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.

So I had a few hours to mess about with the Pro last night.

First impressions:
  • Wow...this thing is quite a bit smaller than my launch model. Pictures don't actually give you the scale.
  • Set up and migration from my old console was absolutely seamless I must say. Bravo to Sony for that.
    • Swapped my existing NVME into the new console, left both plugged in and on my network and the "transfer wizard" took care of the rest.
  • Noise: Quieter than my launch unit for sure.
I played a few games too:
  • Demon Souls: Looks really good in PS5 Pro mode. Far crisper.
  • Elden Ring (no PS5 Pro patch): Noticeably smoother framerates all around
  • Gran Turismo 7: Honestly, this already looked good so aside from the new Ray Tracing effects that add a bit of depth here and there I can't say the game is transformed.
  • Calisto Protocol: Tried both the 4K Perf mode and the 8K mode (which downscales back to 4K). Looks amazing, pity the base game sucks :D
  • No Man's Sky: I think something is up here, looked worse to my eye. Might just start a new game.

Still waiting for mine, since Monday...

After long follow up, my package was handed over to a 3rd party courier by DHL International and I was the unlucky winner to be handed over to RAM, which means I will receive it about in time with the PS6 launch...

And I am dealing with an incompetent service delivery company, best I got so far is, "we have a backlog"

It's strange similar happened to me. I ordered a bunch of games as I usually do from Amazon UK. 5 Games in total, 4 of them were delivered by DHL, waited 4 days only from the UK, received the 5th game yesterday from RAM a week later. Don't know why the mother ****ing cuntly **** ass **** **** moer **** ****ing **** **** reason DHL decided to hand 1 over to a 3rd party. If this is going to be a regular occurrence, then I might as well move back to Amazon US and buy my games from them again.

Because 90% of the games I play never get local releases physically. And I am not paying what the local importers ask, **** them, their ma se ****

Biggest WTF for me was FF7 Rebirth, it's honestly a completely different game on the Pro. And it's not the best looking game out there, it's just that the base PS5 one was so bad

Mine was delivered, just glad to have a PS5 again. Not sure if it is worth the upgrade from a PS5 (mine was stolen, so waited to buy the Pro), but will give some feedback once I play more familiar games again.

Completed LotF. Getting 100% made me lose my mind. **** these convoluted quests

I know the feeling. It's even more obscure than some Dark Souls quests were. Grinding for the right drops felt like a nightmare at times. When I got the plat I was really happy, but it's one of the worst "souls game" plats I did.

I know. I rank this worst than the farming I did for DS2. Had to do 4 runs since I missed the tortured prisoner as a boss.

I also never thought anything could be worse than DS2, but LoTF took the cake. But then again, I do have a huge soft spot for Dark Souls 2. Was sitting last night and listening the the Majula theme. Best hub area of any game ever
