PS5

The OG 3 does not play like the last 2 (Ragnorok and friend). I enjoyed the later adaptations but prefer the older ones combat.

Hopefully, they just update the FX and keep the combat intact.

Apparently the trilogy is years away from actual release but SM does have a proven track record, so I'm sure either way it will be good.

I can't say I was blown away, I finished off feeling disappointed. Out of everything shown, I was only interested in:

* GoW remake - but them saying its early stages after months and months of rumours lowered my expectations there.
* 007 game - but they got me with the earlier trailers, I didn't really need to see more
* DS2 - I am happy that it's coming to PC for friends, as I have spread the gospel and got them hooked on DS1.
* Maybe the John Wick game

Although soaring RAM prices haven't yet had a widespread impact on the prices of current-generation consoles, it's highly probable that console manufacturers will eventually be forced to raise hardware prices. However, Sony has plans in place to minimize the effects of these high component costs, though it's definitely not good news for all current PlayStation 5 owners.

As reported by Automaton, during Sony's latest earnings call, CFO Lin Tao addressed the current situation, stating that the company has secured the memory needed for the end-of-the-year sales season in the next fiscal year. However, the company plans to "minimize" the impact of rising RAM prices by "monetizing the installed base" while continuing to grow software and network services revenue.

Sony Shuts Down Video-Game Studio Bluepoint

Sony Group Corp. is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the PlayStation subsidiary responsible for developing remakes of video games such as Demon’s Souls.

Roughly 70 employees will lose their jobs amid the studio closure, a PlayStation spokesperson said, writing in a statement that the decision was made “following a recent business review.” Bluepoint will officially shutter next month.

“Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community,” the spokesperson said. “We thank them for their passion, creativity and craftmanship."

Founded in 2006, the Austin-based studio was known for developing high-end remakes of older games, such as Uncharted and Shadow of the Colossus for modern platforms. Sony acquired Bluepoint in 2021, shortly after the successful release of Demon’s Souls on PlayStation 5, and tasked it with co-developing 2022’s God of War Ragnarok.

Following that game, Bluepoint began working on a “live-service” God of War game, Bloomberg previously reported. But it was canceled in January 2025. PlayStation said at the time that it was working with Bluepoint to determine the studio’s next project.

Seen a lot of hoo haa about that but at the end of the day if they haven't done anything in 2 years what's the point keeping them around?

Its employees getting paychecks but doing nothing bleeding money.

Its a common sense choice practiced in every industry on the planet but no gaming studios think they can get a free ride.

Good call Sony.

Save more money please.

Yeah and no, they did not steer the ship, but ultimately paid the price when it was directed into the wrong direction:

Before its closure was confirmed in February 2026,
Bluepoint Games was primarily working on a live-service
God of War
project. Following the cancellation of that project, the studio shifted focus to pitching new ideas and a reported single-player project before Sony announced its shutdown.

Recent and Cancelled Projects
  • Live-Service
    God of War Game
    :
After being acquired by Sony in 2021, Bluepoint was tasked with developing a multiplayer, live-service title set in the Greek era of the God of War franchise. This project was cancelled by Sony in January 2025 as part of a broader pivot away from their aggressive live-service strategy.
  • Original 3rd-Person Melee Game: In late 2025, job listings and reports indicated the studio had begun working on a new third-person melee action title. While some fans speculated this could be a remake of the original God of War trilogy, the studio had previously stated they were focusing on original content.
  • God of War Ragnarök
    Support:
The studio provided additional co-development support for the 2022 release of
    God of War Ragnarök
    .

Studio Closure (February 2026)
On February 19, 2026, Bloomberg and other outlets reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment is shutting down Bluepoint Games. The studio, which had about 70 employees, is scheduled to officially close in March 2026 following a business review.
Would you like to see a list of the completed remakes and remasters Bluepoint released before they were acquired by Sony?

Sony had this massive "Live service" push that seemed to be coming home.

In 2023, Sony had 12 live-service games in production as part of its ambitious expansion plan, with the goal to launch these titles by the fiscal year ending March 2026

Yea **** these stinking suits man, BP was such a talented studio. Hopefully the devs land on their feet far away from these publishers.

Mind you this decision was made by Herman Hulst, who at some point was a PlayStation CEO, who also believed that the $400m Concorde flop was going to be a bigger IP than Horizon.

This all makes sense now

That's all here and there.

At the end they've never made a game the remastered old games and Sony has no interest in funding remasters its not money makers. Demon Souls only made $2m lol

Meantime 70 people are cashing paychecks every month.

70 people who had nothing to do for 2 years now.

The Demon Souls remake sold 1.8 million copies in its first 15 months.
Returnal sold 866,000 in its first 10 months and is having a sequel in two months. Both were launched at $70.

All Sony had to do was tell Bluepoint to remake Bloodborne for PS5+PC and hit a 60fps target, would've been a massive hit.

Sadly another studio lost to the Sony GAAS push over the last few years.

Now we are left waiting to see how badly Marathon, Fairgame$ and Horizon Hunters Gathering flop, and then find what studios are left.

Housemarque is an EU based studio and BP is US, really big difference in dev salaries and required ROI I would guess

The lineup says otherwise. Just look at the various remasters / remakes since the PS5 launched.

TLOU 1 and 2, Spiderman, Horizon Zero Dawn, days gone, until dawn.

Then there is the upcoming God of war remakes. Who knows what else is in the pipeline that we're not aware of.

IMO, they were pulled off doing what they do best, to work on something no one wanted, and paid the price for terrible leadership.

If Sony didn't have an appetite for what they did, perhaps they shouldn't have bought a studio they didn't know what to do with (although I have no doubt the studio heads had some full pockets when that happened).

These bean counting execs should feel bad. As should the studio heads.

So apparently RE Requiem on PS5 Pro with the 60FPS RT mode is using the next version of PSSR (2.0?) but it's currently under embargo and they can't say it just yet, hence the allusions to a great "upsampler" in the 60FPS RT mode.
