PS5

So apparently RE Requiem on PS5 Pro with the 60FPS RT mode is using the next version of PSSR (2.0?) but it's currently under embargo and they can't say it just yet, hence the allusions to a great "upsampler" in the 60FPS RT mode.

There will also be a system software update at that time; selecting "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" in Settings on PS5 Pro will allow you to experience the new PSSR with any PS5 Pro games that currently support PSSR.

Seems huge?

PlayStation Going Back to Exclusive Games as PC Push Fails – Rumor

February 27, 2026

Rumors have been swirling for a while that Sony is reconsidering its PC strategy and leaning towards PlayStation exclusive games again. This time, however, we have credible journalists and insiders lending credence to these rumors, noting that PC sales of PlayStation Studios‘ games aren’t selling enough to justify multiplatform launches.

Sony first-party single-player games may become PlayStation exclusive again

Journalist Jason Schreier and Digital Foundry’s John Linneman are among the trusted voices who have claimed that Sony is reconsidering its approach to PlayStation exclusivity for single-player games.

To be clear, this doesn’t mean that Sony is pulling the plug on PC. Expect first-party multiplayer games to continue launching on multiple platforms. However, between lackluster PC sales of its single-player games and witnessing the response to Xbox going multiplatform, we reckon that Sony has good reason to reconsider its approach.

Schreier’s comments were made in a new episode of the Triple Click podcast. When ResetEra users suggested that he was merely speculating, Schreier claimed that he wasn’t.

“It’s not speculation, but sometimes topics come up on the show before I’m quite ready to publish a story about them,” the Bloomberg journalist wrote. “More to come soon, I’m sure.”

Considering Schreier’s track record, we think something is happening behind the scenes. The question is, how will this change impact Nixxes, who Sony acquired specifically to port games to PC?

I know that, for some reasons we will not go into now, some folk think exclusives are bad.

I love them. It's the reason the PS is where it is right now (in terms of the competition) I reckon, and I welcome a renewed focus on them.

Well maybe they should release more first party titles.

I want to play both Forza and Gran Turismo on my PC as well.

That PS5 pro update is giving me pause on if I should upgrade.

PS5 Pro is in a far better position than at launch.

With PSSR2 plus the memory shortage's potential impact on console prices and the highly rumored PS6 delay, R17 315 on Amazon is looking like a really good deal right now for those on the fence.

Tempted to get RE9 just to check out the updated PSSR, but these survival horror games aren't really my jam. Guess I should try and play RE4 remake first before wasting moola, at least I bought that on deep sale.

You can keep your Playstation exclusives we no care.

Square Enix wants to multi-plat and 50% of CAPCOM income comes from PC. Even Shift Up is looking for another publisher after being bankrolled by Sony for their first game.

Just another arrogant Sony idea to us really.

What's the point in comparing a platform holder to 3rd party publishers? They operate on different business models. Plus, PlayStation makes several times more money than either of those, they know what they are doing and if they want to prioritise their own platform then that's their right. At the end of the day they want to sell consoles. Devaluating their platform for a few PC sales doesn't seem worth it, if the report is accurate.

I also find it funny how Steam fans get weird about console exclusivity...I can't wait to play HL3 on my PS5.

Like I said, we don't care. Either way.

Having it is good. Not having it is oh ok anyway.

Sony Group Corp. no longer plans to release its big PlayStation 5 games on PC, a major shift in strategy that sees the video-game maker returning to console exclusivity after six years of flirting with multi-platform releases, according to people familiar with the company's plans.

Online games such as Marathon and Marvel Tokon will still be released across multiple platforms, but single-player titles such as last year’s samurai hit Ghost of Yotei and the upcoming action game Saros will remain exclusive to PlayStation 5, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to talk publicly about the company’s strategy.

SE approach will be interesting. Their games sell less than Capcom. Sony gave them boat loads for exclusivity. And having it day 1 on PC just means more console players will buy the cheaper PC version so they get less money.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Exclusives are never good for the gamer. You should be able to enjoy the game no matter your choice of platform.

Its unfortunate that Sony has decided to go back to the bad days.

Sure not good for end user but in the same line ask Microsoft how no exclusives working for them.

I'll give you a hint:

I think timed exclusives can be a good thing.

If Tears of the Kingdom was on other platforms day one (ignore that Nintendo games are never cross-platform anyway), there is no way it would be as polished as it was.

Playstation exclusives have been well received because of exclusivity. Focusing on one platform usually means a better game

The idea of gate keeping games to a specific set of hardware still baffles me. It benefits no one but the platform holder. It is anti-consumer no matter how its looked at. Why people cheer this on is a mystery to me - it supports nothing but bean counters and suits.

I am happy that my PC friends will get DS2 though.

What? But what about the engagement? Just look, everybody is engaged! Granny upstairs turns on the bedroom TV > See, that's an Xbox goddammit!

Are you telling me engagement doesn't put money in your pocket?

Unless it's a case of franchises that were multiplat from the start and going exclusive, like what MS attempted to do with Bethesda, I don't see how it's anti consumer. At the end of the day a healthy platform holder means they are going to keep investing in their studios to produce games their consumers want.

Depends how long the gap is.

Great studios can produce great games on multi platforms. See BG3.

How is it not anti consumer when restricting it to a certain platform to force the consumer to have multiple systems in order to play the games.

I'll give you a hint:
MS strategy failed not cause of multiplatform it failed cause of game pass eating the sales.

The hardware sales would obviously go down but the game sales would have been better without the game pass day one involvement.
