Not sure if this idea has been brought up before, so apologies if so.

How about fighting Telkom via Proudly South African. We all know that PSA will not boot Telkom, but what if consumers actively boycotted all products containing the PSA logo?

How it will work
People write to a PSA member, and inform them that until such time that a) Telkom is removed from PSA, or b) they (the company) cancel their membership of PSA, you will not purchase any of their products. Clearly state the reason being Telkom's continued membership.

Now, PSA has two choices when companies cancel:
1) Boot Telkom
2) Lose all their other members.

Should stir things up a bit?

We're talked about it before, and it's a good idea except that Telkom has PSA by their money hungry, grubby little paws and they don't care as long as telkom pays for their free lunches.

While that may be true (is true?), it does not negate the fact that if Telkom is the sole surviving member, PSA will fold.

Slightly OT...

Anyone seen the Mecer ads on TV? They claim that Mecer is "Proudly South African."

As far as I know, SA does not manufacture motherboards, drives, cases, RAM, Keyboards, Mice (Mouses?) etc.

Does the PSA apply for assembly only?

In that case, there must be literally thousands of Proudly South African PC Assemblers.

Just a thought...

They can use the PSA logo and so on cos they're a South African Company, and cos their PCs are asembled here.

EDIT: I cant remember who it is, might be Axiz or a south african company with a similar name, actually manufactures RAM and memory products like mem cards here in SA.

But those thousands of PC Assemblers dont pay a PSA mebership fee now do they?

IMHO PSA is just BS, i'll buy smthing cos it better than something else, not just cos its south african!

I think if we can get people to boycot PSA on a large scale, it might work, but it will take a lot of effort to get lots of people to write to them and all.
