So, I checked the threads on here about them before buying but, like the idiot I am, I ignored all the warnings and went and bought a gaming laptop from them anyway.
So, as the good citizen I am, I am doing a public service announcement and warning you guys to keep your business from these people. Rather spend the extra money buying from Incredible, Matrix, or any of the other computer shops, and have peace of mind that you won't be without your device or your money for more than 2 weeks while they screw you around.
I bought a laptop on a Sunday 2 weeks ago, after my trusted work horse killed itself.
Their deal on a new Ryzen 7, with 32 Gig Ram and a GTX 1050 is far cheaper than anything anywhere else, but I would gladly pay the 3000 more that it costs on Woot.
Since then I waited a week for delivery. Then received a laptop that worked for only a few minutes before shutting down and refusing to restart.
I drove to their offices in Centurion, where their technician told me its a BIOS issue, and he had resolved it.
Drove back to Joburg, and the following night, exactly the same thing happened. I googled the problem and it turns out that it would require a Windows reinstall, or could point to faulty RAM.
Since I wasn't gonna jump through those hoops for a brand new machine, I returned their laptop, after days of waiting for them to send a courier.
The laptop was sent back last Thursday. On Friday they acknowledge receipt.
Today I follow up, and they claim that they are still waiting for the courier to deliver it. The couriers confirmed that they delivered it on Friday, since it is only a 45 km trip.
So, here I am still waiting on a refund, while Acer is running a special on a Predator Helios 300, which I can't buy, because they won't give me my money back.
TL;DNR - Evetech will take a week to deliver your goods, waste your time with a faulty device, and then screw you around for more than a week after that, while pretending that they are still waiting for it to be returned, before they refund you.
Spend your money elsewhere.
