These things just keep popping up and destroying lives, just found out about this from someone who asked my opinion on spaceminer.co.za ... what say all of you?

Couldn't find any of those detailed exposes on the interwebs that tackle it directly, but I felt confident enough to call it a scam:
  • website is brand new and does not actually explain how they make money, it just uses a bunch of jargon talking about mining in the metaverse
  • promises lots of risk free profit
  • registered as a business with the state of Colorado in USA?!? can't be found on https://www.fsca.co.za/Fais/Search_FSP.htm
  • looks like a typical pyramid scheme, with explanations of "network marketing"
  • search for "spaceminer scam" you get results where some people say it is not a scam because they just withdraw some profit so it's all legit ... typical of a pyramid scheme
  • the same "spaceminer" name with other domains involved in scams that have already collapsed

typical scam just another "skin"

similar to this kek that imploded a few years back

oh noes, the scam's domain is now registered by Afrihost

@AfriFella @Afrigirl @AfriGuy @AfriNatic naturally you can't catch every scam that gets a domain, but just fyi this scam is now on Afrihost according to https://registry.net.za/whois/

PS: your abuse contact email ([email protected]) bounces emails back saying it is for internal use only :sneaky: what's the point of listing it as an abuse contact email then?!?
Hi,

it is [email protected]

omfg /facepalm

Afrihost will not act without a formal take down notice, anyone feel like submitting one? I'm not keen on filling out all the personal details ISPA asks for:

apparently they asked the scammers if they are scammers and the scammers said no ...

maybe @Jan can flex those MTI journo muscles

The best schooling comes at a cost

As some will not listen if you give them advice

So actually these scammers are doing public education at a fee

true, but when the hosting companies are literally told, with evidence, that they are hosting a criminal scam and they choose to ignore it ...

let's just say the public isn't the only party in need of an education

I’ve sent a ping to Afrihost

A whole bunch of similar scams
at least those don't use crypto jargon, nice change of pace actually

they might be "miles ahead of authorities" purely because authorities take forever to act? The FSCA have been told about spaceminer, in writing, over a week ago, still nothing on:
