Was going to get one to use as a 4K UHD BluRay player and just assumed it had support for control over HDMI. Luckily I double checked before purchasing one and this is somehow still not implemented on Microsoft's console, the one they touted as an amazing media hub on release, yet PS4 has this functionality.

Just thought I'd make this PSA in case somebody else has this idea and "just assumes".

About 2 years back I bought an Xbox One for media only. I was pretty upset to find so many limitations on a device for media ... Couldn't Bitstream, HDMI in was dumbed down, no HDMI CEC, IR remote, no IR in ...

Sad to see they haven't changed some things

If I turn on my Xbox one s it turns on my amp and TV accordingly ... If I turn off my Xbox... It turns off my tv and amp. The way I want it

On my PS4 pro ... With CEC it takes a while before my tv turns on then a greater while before my amp comes on ... Sometimes the amp does not even come on but the tv does; which is weird because the PS4 is connected to the amp directly and not the tv

The tv remote I've yet to get it to work on either console. But does control my amp

Edit: my Samsung TV remote can now control my xbox one s. Be it limited. But still great for movies etc.
